Roof shingle colors

Pick a shingle line, then tap any color to see it close up and on a house. We install Owens Corning and Atlas shingles across Central Indiana.

How to choose a shingle color

Start with what is not changing: siding, brick or stone, trim, windows and gutters. A roof is a large part of what people see from the street, so the color should work with all of those.

  • Light siding: black or dark gray gives a sharp contrast; mid gray is softer.
  • Brick and stone: look at the undertones in the brick. Browns suit warm brick, grays suit cool brick.
  • Dark or earth-tone siding: weathered browns and gray-browns tend to blend in without looking flat.
  • Check it outdoors: shingle colors shift between shade and sun, so look at samples in daylight.

Common questions

How do I choose a roof shingle color?

Start with the things that will not change: your siding, brick or stone, trim and gutters. Mid-tone grays and browns blend with most exteriors. Black adds contrast with light siding, and tan or light gray keeps a roof looking bright. Look at samples outdoors, in daylight, next to your house.

Which shingle brands do you install?

We install Owens Corning and Atlas shingles. Owens Corning Oakridge and Atlas Castlebrook are two we install most.

Does the shingle color change the price of my roof?

We price roofs by the size of the roof and its pitch. Every estimate is written and free, and we confirm your color and shingle line on it.

Can you show me the color on my own house?

We can go over the colors with you at your estimate, in person, on your own roof and next to your siding.
